To customise the
default styles of a Table of Content Web Part in
SharePoint, you can either create new classes, or override the existing
CSS classes used to render a TOCWP. Either methods may need to
have the XSL templates for the presentation level options associated with a
TOCWP modified to include different classes, or additional
presentation levels. Adding new presentation options or styles to a Table of
Contents Web Part would require that XSL template (LevelStyle.xsl) be updated to
specify styles and payout for the new options.
The following article explains the process of customising one or many TOCWPs in
a SharePoint site colletion or accross a farm using various methods, including
overriding the default styles used by a TOCWP. This can also allow custom
styles to be applied to existing TOCWPs on SharePoint site’s pages without
having to make changes o the page, or master page. Alternatively, the article
also demonstrates how to apply custom CSS styles to a TOCWP on a single page,
which does not affect TOCWPs on other pages or sites.
